FYI - I think it's important to advise when I/we encounter exceptional service or "extra mile" effort, quality and ethical businesses.

I must share a long series of exceptionally positive experiences with Camp N Cruise in Marne, Michigan - West of Grand Rapids easy access of I-96 for all of you. Besides Lockeman's (our preference but 3 hours away and last year Dave strongly recommended Camp And Cruise and vice versa Camp and Cruise recommends Dave and Lockeman's each without hesitation) this dealer/service center will go the extra mile, are patient, fair and awesome - especially compared to a long list of unnamed businesses on our side of the state.

My close friend w/ Outrage 21 Ribside just replaced his 200 Ficht with 150 ETEC at Camp N Cruise this was after a couple of years of extreme frustration with "dealers" who wanted thousands to repair his engine. Camp N Cruise diagnosed a fuse problem with two other dealers told him $2,000 repair.

This week I encountered an issue with my 115 that got a bit tricky and some issues with parts. Camp N Cruise stepped right up and solved my problem directly, extra mile to make me smile and gained a loyal customer. Management got involved to work with techs and NO tension whatsoever when another dealer or two hit me with a barrage of excuses and low grade blame on me.

So there it is - they have all the cool motors, nice line of boats including my favorite PNW aluminum whitewater jets - Wooldridge.

Last thing - it is a very interesting place in an interesting location - very funky and kinda old school.

Hey Pete, they sound like a place I'd like to buy a used outboard from. (OMC 50 20" shaft). We are hoping to get up that way in Sept. to play some golf and hopefully come home with a motor for my 15 footer.

HEY - you better let me know when you're coming and you can stay here if you want. We should be around. If you are looking for a 50 Merc let me know - there are several awesome shops full of freshwater outboards around here - get me some specifics.

517 202 1053 anytime - we'd love to see you two.

Pete, Thanks for the invite. What is the weather like in your area in mid Sept. MJ thinks we'll freeze our butts off. Sept. is the worst month of the year in Fl. Rainy and hot. Of course this summer its like that every day here.

I want to find an OMC twin cylinder 50hp, 20" shaft with trim and tilt. I think they were built up until about 2000. Not looking for an antique as they were also built from the late 60's. If you could find me a good one in your area I would be forever indebted.

I will give you a call.

September in Michigan is great. Usually you will have warm to even hot summer like days with cool nights. The later in the month you go the cooler the day time temps get.

All across the state there are Marinas of all sizes, small motor shops and tackle shops that have used freshwater motors for sale. I would also just keep an eye on craigslist in the weeks leading up to your trip. You are bound to find something.

I'll check with a friend of mine who trades motors and boats. What you are looking for are extremely popular and in demand around here. They are also somewhat plentiful - right size for pontoon boats but some guys want smaller motors so they take off low hour or even new ones and sell them. My friend gets quite a few but won't sit on them - he rolls what he has. I'll tell him to keep me posted.

September is a great time to come here - fall is pretty seriously nice up this way and well into October. Should be an interesting one this year.
