Should I be concerned of this drain in the bow locker on my 1985 13' Whaler? Look at the pictures I attached to see what I am talking about. At first I thought this drain was original from the factory, but now that I look at it closely I'm starting to think it isn't. The reason I think that is because when I shine a light into the drain, all that's inside it is foam. I'm worried that the water will water log the foam (if it already hasn't). So my question is, is this drain original, and should I be concerned about the foam inside it? Thanks.

I'm not sure about on the 13' hull, but on the early 16'7" hulls, the anchor locker drained directly to the deck via a through hull. However, in 1968, at least, that drain was a brass lined tube.

Do you know how long that hole has been there?

At the very least, I'd plan to install a tube to protect the interior from (additional?) water intrusion.

Good luck!
