I just got this old motor and put it on my 13 foot. It runs good but at high RPM it seems like both cylinders will drop out or misfire for an instant and then pick up again fine. Seems like an electical problem. I have not done a compression test.

One of the first things you do on an old motor like that is to pull the flywheel and inspect the coils for cracks or burn holes and to check the condition of the wires and their insulation. This is after a compression check and a visual inspection, of course.

new coils and points are still available from OMC and other sources, and inexpensive too.
