I finally got around to installing the Uflex Protech 1 on my 1988 Revenge W-T. It was a straight forward process with no real surprises. I had to pry on the outboard engine head to get enough room to thread the bolt through the tiller arm. On the dash the original hole was a little-tiny-bit too big, so I made a bracket for the back of the helm to give the screws something to bite into. Now that the helm sticks out further I can't open that little cupboard door all the way.

I managed to bleed the system using a water bottle and two 5/16-inch diameter hoses like I saw on youTube. It worked great and wheel spins now with one finger. Can't wait to get it out on the lake for a test drive next week. Thanks to all for tips and information on helping to get this project done.

Nice installation, it's a great upgrade. When I installed a SeaStar system in my Outrage, I purchased a kit that allowed much of the helm pump to be recessed inside the console. This allowed the wheel to remain in about the same position it was in with the prior mechanical system. You may find a similar kit available for your system that restores the original geometry. These photos show how the SeaStar system is installed using this kit.

Happy days, 1 finger steering!

I did the same in our 18 Outrage. I used U-flex's adapter kit to recess the pump into the dash about 2 ". I had to cut the hole quite a bit bigger so I backed it with a piece of aluminum, which also holds the new fuse block.

Thanks guys. I see in your photos your dash is already sloped but on my revenge it's vertical. I'm gonna call Uflex this week and see what they can offer.

I took another look at the Uflex products and I don't see a 'wedge' that would tilt up my helm pump. Seastar makes a 20 degree wedge that looks like it might do the trick. Does anyone know if this Wedge would fit the Uflex helm? I tried asking Seastar that question and so far no reply. Thanks

Well I finaly managed to get out for a test run of the new Uflex Hydraulic Steering on my 88 Revenge 20 WT. I have to say i'm very happy with it. Flat out at 48 mph I could turn that wheel with very little pressure where before I could barely turn it with both hands. Only issue is the wheel sticking out but it looks like that Seastar 20 degree Wedge will work with this system as well sooooo future upgrade and all will be good. Thanks to all for tips and info.
