Thanks, Steve

Steve,
I am in the process of building a center console mold for the 15 footer. I hope to have it done and have a part made in a couple of weeks. I plan to use one in my 15 footer, and have a few for sale. The top half will be fiberglass, with mahogany trim, and the bottom half with a built in seat in front of the console will be mahogany. Here is a pic of the mock up I built, but the picture does not show the bottom half. The total height can be modified and it can also be used as a side console in 15 and 13 footers.

Rich,

Nice work. I am wanting to be completley wood free; looking to be very low maintenance. I have found 1 suppler out of Arkansas that has pretty much what I am looking for. I just wanted to see if there were any other options.
I am going to mount a 19gal.Moeller fuel tank inside the console with the batteries under the front part of the console. I will need 2 batteries since I will be mounting a trolling motor on the bow.

I have been following some of your other posts and will be very interested to see how your wiring tunnel turns out. I may go that route myself.

I built one myself with fiberglass over plywood.
But it is much smaller than what you are talking about.
My friend purchased one on eBay, that I believe was used in a RIB type of Boat, and that worked out very well.
It was not that difficult to build ours, it was just time consuming, and I had someone spray the gelcoat.
But I did all the woodwork,Laminating, sanding and polishing myself.
You can use eighth inch plywood as a mock up very easily, to get the desired size and shape before you build it out in the final product.

Keeper,,

That kind of work is way over my head. Plus I am trying to get this done quick so I can get back to fishing.

Then search ebay for center consoles . . . if I can remember, I'll ask my friend if he has the contact where he got his.
He mounted it in a 13 and it fit very proportionately.
I know he got 2 full size batteries under it. Albeit a little tight.

keeper.
The console I'm building is not a one-off. I built the plug and I'll build the mold from the plug, much like a mold for a fiberglass boat. From the mold I'll build the actual console, keep one for myself, and then build tons of them for others, sell them and get rich. LOL

Binkster,

Good luck, sounds like a great plan. I just hope to have mine done and fishin long before that. Your pics look great and I have picked up some ideas for my own rework from them.

I just picked up a Humminbird 998SI for the console and a Humminbird 597HD DI for the bow. I have a 50# MK Maxxum foot control TM on the way along with a jackplate & trim n tilt from Bob's Machine.

Gettin all the parts together and hope to soon start doing the rigging.

I will post some before and after pics when I am done.

The small & medium Carolina Skiff console's fit nicely.
Send me your E-mail & I will send some photo's of my
13' & 15' with fiberglass center consoles.
They are strong, light & wood free.
And not too expensive.
