Is the E-TEC harness (176341) with Deutsch connectors and a new BRP key switch (5005801) with 6 male bullets on back a plug in system? Did someone fail to mention a series adapter when using the remote key switch? Thanks--Chris

It sounds like you just bought the ignition key switch as a part, instead of buying the ignition key switch with its wiring harness. The ignition key switch connects with a Deutsch six-position connector for plugging into the MWS wiring harness to the E-TEC. See the section of the service manual with wiring diagrams for details. The E-TEC uses the MWS wiring harness, same as has been used since 1996. You probaby want "0176674 IGNITON SWITCH KIT."

Jim, I'm sure you're correct on part # and application. My only concern is that the corresponding date for that kit is 1996 which is the crossover year? This remote key assembly is E-tec/ Deutsch connector compatible for sure?

Thanks,

Chris

As far as I know, the MWS wiring system has remained unchanged since its introduction in c.1996.

When ordering parts for Evinrude E-TEC engines, the best method is to consult with your local dealer. Some items have been made obsolete and there are new part numbers. The superseding new part numbers are used for ordering. An authorized Evinrude dealer will be able to determine the exact part number to be used for ordering a particular part or assembly.
