I am using Ipe as the base of my console. The plan is to use West System epoxy and varnish for the finish coats. The issue is, I am going to the Keys next week and would like to bring the boat along. There is no way I can apply the epoxy and varnish before the trip.

The good part is, I can easily remove the console for eventual epoxy/varnish.

The bad part is, I wouldn't want to use any sealants in between the deck/Ipe and Ipe/Console in fear of staining the Ipe.

I also think oiling is probably not a good idea since it'll most likely affect the adhesion later on.

Is it ok to leave it unfinished for a week trip in the keys?

Nevermind! I just bought a sheet of Luan plywood and I will use that temporarily.
