I wish I could say it was mine but...my friend Eric is at it again, and this time it's "personal". This is his own, and first whaler. A 1989 15' Whaler Mischief. It's officially halfway done as of today, and it should be adequately powered too. He reads these posts so let him know what you think.

A TOWER of POWER......
I would have gone with a Yamaha 90.
Why you might ask??
Plenty of power & less weight.
Plus better mileage & oil injected.
And I have had better reliability with them, than the Mercury's I have owned. Including one Tower of Power.
...
Looking forward to seeing the completed boat.

I like the look and sound of the "Tower of Power" and think the retro look outweighs any of the inefficiencies of this older design.

Cool project!

Another member put a tower of power on one of these - Bob Kemmler Jr. He then switched back to a Mercury 90 which was giving him 50+ mph performance. He didn't mention what the 115 was doing or why he switched to the 90.

We had a tower of power on a 1975 Montauk, boy, would it fly! They are so much smoother than a V-4 as well. They didn't seem to have quite the hole shot though.

The hull gets flipped today and the bottom mods will start, he is extending the strakes all the way to the transom, still contemplating adding a pad. The motor came from a guy in Jacksonville, FL who had it on a 16' Viper at 72 mph. So it should get interesting. The fastest I have seen one of these Mischief hulls go is 60 mph, and that wasn't documented, I think is was actually Bob's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quvOeJAQxRc

So this video is all Eric has to go by, for performance. The last 15 he built was mine, and it has the same sized 90 HP that Bob "upgraded to".

These are "literally" daily updates. This man is a one-man-gang.
