I had a new OMS pump by BRP put in my 1993 Johnson 150-HP outboard engine at the same time as a new power head, late in 2012. The pump worked right from the start and is still pumping, but it is pumping too much oil. It burns the whole reservoir with one tank of gas, 17-gallons. Is there a fix for this problem? Maybe a smaller pulse limiter? Thank You |

Something sounds awry. The OMS should use oil in a ratio of about 1:50 to gasoline. Typically if there is too much oil being used, there is a problem in the pump, perhaps a faulty seal or diaphragm. Have you read: http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/VRO.html The above offers some diagnostic advice for pump malfunction symptoms. |
