I've looked around and priced custom tops out and I think I'm going with a Stryker folding top. Almost half as much as a custom.

The Stryker folding top is $1,549. The top mounts to the deck and they also have stand offs that can mount to the console as well. I'm not sure how the stand offs will align with the doors on the console. I am planning to use snaptoggle bolts to fasten to the deck. I'll be ordering my top in December and hopefully installing shortly after that.

Mine is mounted with stainless sheet metal screws into the flooring. 4 screws per leg. The top is also bolted to the console in 4 locations. My overhead is small compared to typical T-tops, and it has held up well. That said, when I do the next major project on my Whaler, I will probably through bolt the legs at any location where I can reach under the floor. There are a few areas that can be reached by the small square deck plates near the fuel fill and opposite.

yes, it appears that I could reach the front leg attachment
points under the floor.
So I was thinking of through bolting them & then using
short stainless screws for the aft legs, along with a good
adhesive caulk under the pads.
...
I think if I keep the height to roughly six feet & use a
canvass top, the added stress to the floor will not be too
great. I realize the center floor section is screwed in.
...
The local fabricators in FL will custom build a T-top
for around the price of the Striker Top.
..
ANY OTHER T-TOP OWNERS OUT THERE & IDEAS??

I have a rather large canvas t-top on my 1989 Outrage 22. The boat was purchased with the top.

At the deck level, it is secured to the same backing that the fuel tank cover/deck is attached to. This seems to be very good backing. The downside to this connection point, is that it constricts the passage to the bow somewhat. The bow is still accessible, even with a fish on, though the passage is a little awkward.

The top is attached at the front and rear corners of both sides of the console.

I have thought about replacing my t-top with the Stryker top because I like the idea of being able to fold the top down to clear the garage door header for winter storage. To get my boat into the garage now, I have to remove the antennas from the top, then remove the wheels and lower the boat trailer onto two custom dollies I fabricated for the purpose- not very handy.

Let me know if you have any questions or would like to see some pictures.

Hi Doug,
That sounds like a good set-up.
Yes a few photo's of your T-top & the mounting areas
would be great.
Thanks, Russ

I ended up going with the Fishmaster top over the Stryker. Mostly because of the delivery issues and condition of the items after shipping I've heard other people having with Stryker. The people at Fishmaster were great to deal with and I had my top within 3 days from the time I ordered it. The biggest difference in the tops I saw was that the antenna mounting points on the Stryker top were welded as part of the upper frame. The Fishmaster design requires you to buy clamp on mounts for antennas. Once you add in some of the giveaways that Stryker usually includes (Ebox, rocket launcher) the price for the Fishmaster creeps up past the Stryker. However if you contact them they tend to work with you to match deals. Once I've finished my install I'll post some pictures in a new thread.

On the subject of T-tops, has anyone seen one on a 15 footer? As Russ says, bimini tops can be a pain.

When you get your "Fishmaster" finished, post some photos..
as this is a T-top thread...
..
I have never seen a T-top on a 15' but I think a small one
would work great w/ a center console on a 15'.

Russ,

Sorry I have not been forthcoming with pictures yet. Its a busy time of year. I have checked my available images and found a couple which may help you, at least until I get a chance to take subject specific pictures. See links below:

You will have to look close to see the aft connection points. Unfortunately I could not locate any of the forward connection.

A wide angle view of the boat from the port side:

Hopefully this will help you out until I can get the specific pictures taken.

I used a combination of screws, bolts, and togglebolts to attach it to the deck. I cut the single standoff into two equal halves so I could attach to the console at two locations on each side.
