Has anyone with a 1973 Outrage 21 used a plastic belly tank from Moeller or any other manufacturer with good results? If so, what was the tank model? I am aware that I can buy an aluminum replacement for a little bit more, and I am not interested in saddle bag tanks. Thanks

I think the reason for no replies is the cavity shape off-center V does not match up with the Moeller product offerings.

Thank you Phil.

Well, the thought is to foam it in place. The reason for plastic is that it should outlast aluminum, but I am no expert.

Tommy -

I think with proper care, an aluminum tank will last, easily 30+ years.

A belly tank on a 21 will be 50 + gallons. A tank of such capacity should be baffled to prevent sloshing loads on the ends of the tank. Though I am not certain, I think that baffling a plastic tank is not possible - whereas baffling aluminum tanks of this size is common procedure. Check with Whaler and/or a commercial tank manufacturer and get their recommendations regarding baffeling. --- Jerry/Idaho
