Author	Topic:   RAGE with 175-HP Jet: Improvements Sought
HHIRON	posted 12-15-2013 11:14 AM ET (US)         I am about to purchase a 1998 RAGE, which of course has the 175 Mercury engine. I would like some input on the kinds of modifications to the engine that would improve the reliability. I've heard about intake water filters but don't know where to purchase them. Would like input about other modifications. Thank you.

sraab928	posted 12-28-2013 07:54 AM ET (US)             Most of the Rage problems you read about are those powered by the 115 OMC motor. The 175 Mercury Sport Jet you are buying is the most desirable model. Its fast and the Mercury seems pretty solid. With that said I cannot help with your original question of how to improve it. I would suggest a google search of that motor as it was used it lots of different jet boats over the years. Best of luck to you. Scott
