AmandaSM	posted 01-16-2014 12:13 PM ET (US)         Hi. I am helping with the installation of a 35-inch mahogany center console on a 1970 Eastport 16-footer. The hull is completely refinished and bare, and therefore the original installation holes have been covered. We want to ensure the appropriate look for the restoration as well as balance in the hull, but are unsure how far from the transom we should install the console. If anyone has their Eastport and could take a quick measurement it would be highly appreciated!
BillS	posted 01-24-2014 06:29 PM ET (US)          The console on my 1971 Nauset is 40.5 inches from the anchor locker bulkhead to the forward edge of the lower half of the console.
robrcr	posted 01-27-2014 08:15 PM ET (US)          I gutted my classic Easport hull and added a center console which measures 32" wide by 30" in length. This isn't the original console so I'm not sure if this helps, but I chose to mount it a little forward of the usual position to provide more cargo space in the aft portion of the boat. The front of my console is 32" from the anchor locker bulkhead. I like this setup but the original installation was probably at least a few inches aft of this position.
