I'm building a RPS seat for my 15 footer. I don't like the normal z-legs that Whaler used or the Starboard reproductions, so I came up with the idea of having them made of aluminum pipe. I drew up a drawing, gave it to my local T-top/tower builder, and this is what he came up with.

This is another pic only upside down. I think this way looks better. BTW the legs are 16" tall

Very nicely designed and fabricated. Are you leaving them bright? Those beads are almost too nice to paint over. You have a bunch of beautiful pics in those files. I like the auxiliary motor mount with with wedge to get it aligned , and the cut down for easy motor mounting.

And I still am enthralled with the console that Binkie designed and built (previous picture). I think he introduced that about five years ago in a post labeled something like "the console that Whaler SHOULD HAVE built". I hope to one day have him build one for me for my Sport 15. I think that would draw as may complements as most RibSides do when people see them.

They look great.
"Drew up" does not give enough meaning to this "design", and the time it took.
They do lend a substance to the decour of your living room.

Note the double patio doors in the backround. There used to be two windows there 8 years ago. I was thinking of keeping my restored 14' DeSilva raceboat in the living room as it was getting dusty in the garage. However I nixed the idea, for some reason women didn't dig it.

How are you accomodating the stainless steel tubes that support the swing back? The molded legs have a D-shaped notch in the top for each tube. Perhaps you could build up a 7/8" block between the leg and your seat to accomodate this?

I'm going to use 1/4" x 2" aluminum flat metal. It will be hinged from the floor. what I have in mind is very simple. I will post some pics next week when it is completed. The seat is sapele mahogany, as is the seat back and all of the trim pieces. So far I have planed the wood and rough cut the wooden parts. I'm waiting on the arrival (tomorrow) of the seat cushion which is a cooler cushion (15"x32") from Specialty Marine. I don't want to final cut the seat width until I haave the cushion, as the cushion width dictates the seat width. It may be + or - 32". Not going to use a cushion on the seat-back, it will be a 1"x8" mahogany board.
