Recently purchased a 1985 17' Whaler, in the Sport configuration, my goal is to convert it into a Montauk, I was able to source factory center console, bow rail, and RPS, I also came across a pair of aluminum RPS "Z" legs, and liked them as I plan to mount a raycor fuel filter/seperator to it, and confine all of my fuel related items, under the RPS, but after looking at them I noticed that the aluminum Z legs do not have the cutouts for the stainless RPS bars to rest in, as the plastic ones do. How were these hinge joints accomplished ? Also I noticed that on the exterior of the Montauk, that I removed the bow rail from, small metal plates were mounted on the exterior sides of the hull, in the area where you would find registration numbers, these plates lined up with two attachment points of the bow rail. My 1985 17' Montauk does not have these. Should I be concerned about this ?
