I am doing some work to my console this winter, including adding new chart plotter and depth sounder, as well as teak work to house them. While I was working on the console, I decided to finally get rid of the shabbily built starboard door/frame assemblies and replace with teak louvered doors. I have had a port side door in stock for quite a few years and am just now getting around to installing it. This morning I was looking around the internet to find a replacement for the aft console door. I noted that Specialty Marine appears to have varnished paired sets available. I checked out Nautical Lumber and did not see louvered doors offered. Does anyone know of other outlets for an aft door/frame assembly, built to match OEM design/specifications? OR, does anyone have a used one available for sale? I could restore if in need of work. I am capable of building doors, but do not currently own a louver jig. Not to mention, the set up time to build one door doesn't make much sense to me. Thank you, |

You will be disappointed with the Specialty Marine product. Mike at Nautical Lumber can build one and it would be perfect but good luck getting it in a timely manner. I'm not sure if Black Duck Gallery does the louvered doors, bit his work is top notch. Might be worth a call or email. |

Tom, I sent an email to Mike this morning. I just sent an email off to Blackduck. Maybe someone will respond with a restorable used one, which would be just fine with me. Thanks again, |

Jerry, I received your email concerning your doors. I will take yours, if I haven't found one before you receive your new doors from Mike. Thank you, |

This person has made some nice stuff for folks on another major boating forum. |

Were the doors you plan on replacing factory Boston Whaler parts ? If so would you consider selling them ? |

You might also try Defender Marine, they offer (AFI) [what is AFI?--jimh] teak doors and jambs in two different sizes. I got a pair of these for my Hiliner and they worked out great. You do have to buy the hinges and hardware extra. Just a thought worth looking into. |

Those are all interesting sources but the teak louvered doors Doug was looking for are unique to Whalers, being used on three different Standard Console designs and some Super Console designs from 1977 through the late 1990s. They are not off-the-shelf sizes. |

Tom is correct. I would like to procure the aft console door. I believe it was used on the standard and super consoles. I am not in a big hurry at all. I am oiling teak as I write this, but can replace the door I have now at any time. Thanks again, Doug Vazquez |
