I'm upgrading to a Seastar hydraulic steering system on my 1988 Montauk. The boat is four hours away so I am hoping someone can provide guidance on the best mounting arrangement for the front mount helm (in my case, an HH-5273). I believe my boat has the original Teleflex cable helm.
I'm looking to cut down on the helm protrusion and ensure that the hole for the old helm is covered by my new helm. It looks like I have two options:
* Round Bezel Kit (Part number HA5478)
* Backplate Kit (Part number HA5418)
Does anyone know which will be better at ensuring the old hole is properly covered while also recessing the helm as much as possible?

You want the backplate kit.

I'm not sure how your console looks but on my Revenge I just used the helm and it sticks straight out and I can't open the cupboard underneath all the way now. I'm going to have to get the angled mount and reinstall the helm.

I believe Teleflex also offered a "Baystar" system for use with engines under 150HP.
