Author Topic:   Montauk Anchor Light Lamp Post and Socket Repair

For several years now, the socket in the post or mast for the original anchor light lamp on my 1977 Montauk has been broken. I like the heavy duty appearance of the original and didn't want to replace it with a newer version so I've been soldering in light bulbs whenever a replacement was necessary.
The other day, I found a Perko mast light on clearance at Academy sports. On a whim, I bought it, cut the socket out of it and found with a little sanding to reduce its diameter with a dremel tool it was a perfect fit. Well, almost perfect, it did take a few licks with a rubber mallet to seat it in place.
Anchor light is now good as new.

I managed to drink two beers while grinding away on the one I modified so it was time well spent.
