For the last 3 months I've been getting the Montauk ready for Florida. New seat upholstery, new switch pannel, new waterpump, painted gas tanks, raised RPS 2 inches.... I've lost track of what all I've done.

But, for whatever reason, I didn't check my lights till Saturday. Stern light is working great now thanks to my ingenious but unnecessary modification of the bulb base from a cheap mast light to make it fit my original pole. (thanks to Tom for pointing out I could have ordered a replacement for a few bucks and saved myself a lot of work....)

Here's hoping for same on the bow light. Fixed some wiring issues tonight thinking that would solve the problem, it didn't. Took the thing apart and found it completely coroded. Apparently salt water got in a couple years ago and has sat there happily eating away at the metal ever since....

Does anyone have a source for a replacement bulb base? Tom? Anyone? I'm supposed to leave for 10 days in Florida next Thursday. I am planning on fishing at night. Hate to strap on one of those cheap battery bow lights but I may have to unless someone has a solution... Heck, at this point I'll buy the whole bow chock if somone has one.

As a matter of fact, I do have some sockets that will fit the bow light of a 1977 Montauk and accommodate its T4-1/2 bulb.

These sockets are somewhat imperfect in that you will need to straighten the mounting tab, which is bent 90 degrees.

The mounting tab is also zinc plated steel, not brass or chrome plated brass, as the original was, but other than that, they drop right in.

Shoot me an email if you want one:
