From reservoir at the level sensor [on a 1988 Yamaha 90-HP engine] there is an engine oil leak. I am looking for repair suggestions. If you have had similar problems, I would appreciate your input. As always, thanks.

Typically those under-cowling oil reservoir tanks are plastic. If the leak is from a crack or split or fissure in the molded plastic tank, a repair might be possible with some sort of resin or adhesive or sealant, although often those tanks are made of a type of plastic that is not particularly easy to make a good bond with. If the leak occurs at a seal, perhaps a new gasket is in order. Also, sometimes the tank cap is a source of leaks. |

Thanks Jim. I have also found advise suggesting two zip ties. I don't believe it is leaking at the cap as the oil level is below the cap. Will inspect sensor joint for fractured reservoir or bad gasket/O ring. It seems starter must be pulled to allow for sensor joint inspection. |
