Does/have anyone ever use an electrical fuel pump for their outboard?

I don't have and have not used an electric fuel pump in my boat--well, maybe I should qualify that because there is an electric fuel pump in my present outboard engine, a modern engine with a pressurized fuel rail, and I think you are talking about a fuel lift pump to raise fuel from the tank to the engine--but I see electric fuel pumps in use in small outboard racing boats.

What specifically is your application? I have used electric fuel pumps for some special applications, but the output pressure MUST be properly regulated.

1st I just thinking I probably would never do it but always thinking...I run a 140 looper with no VRO, cost of a new pump is $380-450 depending on were you purchase them, Using a electric fuel pump (with a regulator set at 3 psi) this would be a lot cheaper and never have to pump/have a fuel bulb again. Also would make it easy to empty the fuel tank if needed.

I understand, years ago I rigged a 200 Evinrude Looper with a Holley fuel pump and regulator in the boat...Pushing fuel thru a Racor water separator assembly. We eliminated the VRO.
I believe we set it for 5 PSI. Never had fuel starvation issues or oiling issues again.

Johnson and Evinrude both used an electric lift fuel pump with their Sea Drive models V4,V6,& V8.
Might be hard to find now. Online diagrams look like an auto style electric fuel pump.
