[The fuel tank level gauge on an unidentified boat] needs to [be] replaced, but the depth of 79-gallon tank is known. The correct gauge needs to be purchased. Any help [will be given] thanks. |

You have to remove the old gauge and use a ruler to measure the depth of the tank. You can also use the old gauge and sender to match it to your new one |

If you are talking about a typical classic Boston Whaler boat with an internal fuel tank, the gauge consists of a dial indicator magnetically coupled to the sender. You may just need the dial mechanism. You might also need the sender unit. I believe both are made by Rochester Gauge. See http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/OEM.html#fuelGauge |

I had to replace one of those on the tank gauge on my hydrasport. The hydrasport uses a magnetic kind. Moeller makes them. |
