After a couple years of searching for the right solution to more seating for my 1979 Outrage 22, I finally went the custom route. I had no interest in the big old OEM couch style seats, and wanted the flexibility of a folding seat. So, check out the photos and see for yourself. http://s867.photobucket.com/user/creichart/embed/slideshow/ Wasque%20Custom%20Stern%20Seat As you can see, with the seat in the 'seated' position, there's plenty of room to sit and with the seat in the 'stored' position, I'm barely losing any room when it comes to fishing, etc. We used cast SS brackets instead of stamped. Each bracket has an 1800 pound breaking strength. The welding is fantastic and installation is perfect. My guy is Pete Amos, www.backwaterwelding.com based out of Old Saybrook, CT. Next step is to finish and install the mahogany. This will be beautiful, can't wait! -SS |

Beautiful job!!! Great design... I've been wanting something similar for my 22 Revenge W/T. What did it set you back for the frame? Norm |

Thanks! About $1500 parts & labor. Another $150 for mahogany...Still need some fresh varnish and SS fasteners. |

Very good looking. I'd consider taking a router to the edges of the wood, maybe a 1/2" radius. Reduces the chance of water penetrating a small crack along the edge. Regards - Don |

Thanks Andy. Hi Don, yes, I'm going to take care of all the edges 1/4-1/2". Right now the wood is just sitting there to get a better idea of things. I'll prob space them at 1/4" or less. Hopefully I'll get some time tomorrow to get started on cleaning up the mahogany. |

Nicely done seat. I think the metal "leaning post" style construction is a superior approach to a stern seat and did similarly on mine a couple of years ago (but with a different style seat). Yours looks very nice and is great how it will fold down. |

Updated photos through the link above...mahogany has been cleaned up and mounted but not permanently as I still need to varnish as well as cut some shims for the backrest. I managed to actually end up with a symmetric pattern! I decided to start off by using finishing washers and not counter sink with plugs as the boards will have to come off at some point in the future for proper sanding and revarnishing. Coming along! Russell - I also spoke with Raymond a couple years ago, but this shop was 45 minutes from me, not 10 hours! Raymond's work is impressive and I'm happy to have found somebody who also does great work. The use of the heavy duty SS brackets is great for instantly opening up the space for fishing or giving my kids a dance floor! Nothing screwed to the deck, nothing to trip over, etc etc |

And that's a wrap. New stern seat is fully installed and looks fabulous. Check out the photos here: http://s867.photobucket.com/user/creichart/library/ Wasque%20Custom%20Stern%20Seat
