My 2000 16' Dauntless has red reflectors on port and starboard of the transom. They are rectangular, almost oval with rounded ends, approximately 5" wide and 2" tall. These reflectors improve visibility of the boat when approaching from the rear, either on the water or on the trailer. One of the reflectors disappeared during dry storage, leaving a discolored patch on the hull. I would like to replace the reflector because that would be easier than removing the other reflector and cleaning the hull underneath. The whalerparts drawings do not show this reflector. The drawings are very detailed, even showing stickers affixed to the transom. I do not see these reflectors on the new boats on the Boston Whaler web site. It is possible the dealer added them. I am seeking suggestions for (1) source of reflector, and (2) what type of adhesive to affix with. |

Red Reflectors on the transom of any boat do not sound like OEM equipment as they would meet USCG navigational guidlines. They sound like something that was added by someone else after purchase. Likely for towing and not for improving visibility for other vessels approaching from the stern.

Call your local R.V. dealer, maybe they have some reflectors in stock. http://www.yellowpages.com/norfolk-va/rv-dealers
