I'd like to drop a note and Thank Everybody for posting their messages. I've spent countless hours reading then evaluating my options during my restoration project. The completion of this project is the result of your postings. Thanks again. This 1969 Boston Whaler (Eastport) was purchased by my father in '70. I used this Whaler every chance I had when growing up on Lake Erie then moved South in '87 which was the last year it was used. Mom gave me the Whaler a few years ago when Step-dad passed way. The boat was weather beaten - puncture wounds - rust marks - missing windscreen - fiber rot in anchor box- useless wiring - torn rub rail - Philippine mahogany in dire need of help and too many other items to mention.
My goal was to 1)keep this boat in the family for many more years and 2)get this Whaler back to looking good again. I also had a goal to 3)take my kids out on it and teach them and to take over. I have motivation to restore my boat besides my kids - I am 4)losing my vision due to RP disease - the progression is in final stage. I had to hurry before I miss the opportunity.
Needless to say - the restoration project was back-breaking work but I loved it. I buffed the heck out of the interior which was the only thing that came to mind when I needed to create an acct on this site.
The link below is a short before-and-after pictures slide show. Again- the results were from your postings. Enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions.
