Hello. I am in the process of stripping, sanding, cleaning, and oiling the teak on my 1986 Montauk. I currently have the RPS off and there are two holes on the top. I would like to get some SS rod holders to place in those holes. Does anyone have any idea what size holders will fit? Thanks.

I don't know where to tell you to get them, but the seat originally had two stainless rod holders in the holes you are looking at. Try Ebay or Specialty Marine first, they might have something. |

There is a place in Ft Pierce Fla called Maine Liquidators 772 465 6460, every now and then they have original whaler rod holders with the whaler logo. Other wise I would chase down a good set of lee's rod holders and use them... |

Thanks, guys. Tom Clark sent me the product info for the Lee rod holders, but also said sometimes they fit, sometimes they don't. I don't need original, just something that will fit the seat and look good (and preferably not $100 a piece). If anyone knows the necessary dimensions of the rod holders, please let me know. To that end, one of the mahogany disks at the bottom of the seat is still there, the other is not. Thanks again. |

Take look at Whitecap Blue Water Series part # S-7003CBLUE. They are a side mount stainless steel rod holder with a white vinyl lip. The side mount straps are loose - just slide off and discard. They fit perfect in the Whaler RPS rod holder hole. A little shorter than OEM, but just fasten a wood block inside to set it on. |

Thanks again, everyone. I like the pricing on the Blue Water ones, but I wish I could see a better pic of them online/what the top of the holder looks like. Contender - I reckon the Lee holders will be an upgrade purchase somewhere down the line! |
