I replaced the powerhead on my Evinrude 30-HP with a powerhead from 1986. It has an extra hose nipple on the right side of the fuel pump. If anyone has the same block I would appreciate if they can describe the hose routing for me. There are only about five hoses on this engine.
Thanks

Go to SHOP.EVINRUDE.COM. Navigate to the very high resolution exploded view diagrams with callouts. You can see all the details of the fuel pump and fuel system.

I have an '81 35 hp which may be the same setup. Here's a photo:

Both of the hoses attached to the pump on my engine go to the carburetor. The one in the foreground which goes off to the right at an angle is too difficult to trace, but it does go to the carburetor. The one behind that (exits the pump vertically) goes to the bottom of the carburetor bowl on the right side (when facing the carburetor)of the bottom of the bowl. I suspect these 2 are the main lines. The third could be an oil injection port if you engine has that feature.
Of course, it's possible the fuel pumps were different in 1987...

Sorry, it appears the pumps are different.

The three hose pump gets its power pulse by one hose from the crankcase, then fuel in and fuel out for the other two hoses. The two hose pump gets its pulse thru a hole in its crankcase mounting gasket, then fuel in and out for the hoses.

Sounds like your new powerhead may be a different year.Just look for a small diameter hose nipple on the crankcase and attache to the smallest of the three on the pump.

If there is no hose fitting for a power pulse hose from the crankcase, remove the pump and see if it(pump) can be pulsed thru the mounting gasket. If so replace the pump with a two hose style. Both work fine, just different model years.

Jim , you edited the tittle and made it seem like I want to know where the fuel pump hoses go! There is an extra small nipple on block(right side of fuel pump)that my other block doesn't have. I want to know were it connects to.
