My 1994 Supersport is apart in my garage, waiting for the temps and humidity to drop (Florida) before I redo the wood interior. I noticed PMUCCIOLO's beautiful 15 for sale with Starboard Seats and Risers and Fiberglass Side Console. Are these available to purchase from Whaler or another source? I love the classic look of the wood, but the Starboard/Fiberglass interior would be less to maintain. I would rather be out on the water instead of sanding, sanding and sanding some more. Thanks, James

Paul's 15 has an interior in it that is the same as what was used in the 15' Alert Model from Brunswick Commercial Products Division. You should be able to still source them from the Commercial Products Division. That said, they are likely not cheap. https://db.tt/3xrHW3OT |

Jamber,I made a custom rear thwart out of 3/4" King Starboard. I too was looking for a maintanence-free interior. The thwart was WAY too flexible, so I put some vertical supports beneath it. It was still not sturdy enough. I ended up scrapping it. Bummer too, cause I'd spent a lot of time routing the edges and putting in recessed rod holders. TJ |

Sure its hot in Florida in the summer. but the heat and humidity has no effect on refinishing your mahogany interior or varnish work. Get a good fan or an A/C unit. I just grin and bear it. You could wait until November, but then you better be quick, as December/January could bring temps that are too low for varnishing. I lived in S/W Fla. for 35 years, and now its no cooler in Tampa in the summer. a good orbital sander takes the work out of sanding. Starboard has no structural properties, I doubt if anyone has been successful in building an entire interior out of it.rich |

Binkster: "Starboard has no structural properties, I doubt if anyone has been successful in building an entire interior out of it."I completely agree. I only wish I'd known that hundreds of dollars and tens of hours ago. Doh! |

The late 1990's (15') models came with starboard seats. The seats each had two 3/4" stainless tubes running lengthwise bolted underneath to add strength and the rear seat also had a brace/leg in the center from the seat to the deck for support. I would think that running two aluminum 3/4" or 1" angle lengthwise may add the strength needed, especially if the support is added in the middle. |

If they actually did that it sounds like an experiment that failed. rich |

I've actually replace the mahogany interiors of both my 1960 Sport 13 AND my 1988 SuperSport 15 with Starboard! Machined the material in my shop complete with rounded edges and stainless hardware. The 15 interior has been complete for 4 seasons and the 13 is on its second season of use as an island shuttle here in New Hampshire. With the Moderator's permission, I would be happy to provide photos. |

Sounds interesting, no permission needed. Just put them on a site like photobucket or similar, then post that link on this thread or start a new thread. Just remember, after you post the link, go back and type just before the link and just afterwood type. That will make it live and we can see it.rich |
