I know from reviewing various threads that there are some great wax and related products out there to make gelcoat look its best.

I'll probably use one of those when I have more time, but for right now I'd like to throw some quick wax on the boat to protect it a little. Is there any product out there that would be a good choice for this?

I've had good results with the 3M 2in1 Cleaner&Wax for a quick job but not durable as a premium wax only.

Meguiar's #50 Cleaner Wax One Step.
Amazing stuff - and it's easy and quick.

I like the 3M cleaner wax as well and also use the meguiars premium wax after the cleaner. Twice a season with the premium stuff seems to do the job. It's very easy to use. If it's just one application your looking for and the boat is not faded I would recommend just a premium wax only because it actually gives the gelcoat a polished look and will remove light oxidation providing its not too deep.

Has anybody used both 3M 2in1 and Meguiar's 50? Just wondering how they compare.

Actually I picked up a bottle of the 3M Cleaner & Wax this morning and gave it a try. It seemed to do a nice job of cleaning, although the shine wasn't as strong as I'd hoped. I guess that's inevitable with a combination product.

My gelcoat really doesn't have much oxidation -- maybe this is because I keep it under a mooring cover? However, the gelcoat has been developing cracks during the stronger heat waves around September in the past couple of years. The guys at my boat dealer said that keeping the boat waxes would help keep the cracks down. True? If this is my objective, would a dedicated wax be better?
