I will be added a Racor filter to my 170 MONTAUK. I prefer it to go under the bench seat rather than in the splash well, I am wondering if anyone can direct me to or email photos of their installations. Also, if you could provide the part number of the fuel filter. Thanks

RACOR makes many fuel filters. See

A filter head assembly without primer, with a 10-micron filter and clear bowl is PN 320R-RAC-01. These sell for around $75
A filter head assembly with primer, with a 10-micron filter and clear bowl is PN 490R-RAC-01. These sell for about $95
The 10-micron replacement element is S3227
The 2-micro replacement element is S3228SUL
The usual filtration is with 10-microns.
If you already have a filter mount head, see page 15. There are two replacement types: a more common Mercury-style spin-on filter, and a somewhat unique OMC style. The difference is the size of the threaded spin-on fitting.
If I were starting from scratch I would probably order the 490R-RAC-01 with primer.

Another option is installation of a vacuum gauge on the outlet side of the fuel filter. The vacuum gauge shows the vacuum (suction) pressure in the fuel line, which indicates the amount of contamination of the filter. See page 32 of the literature. The typical model is
RK-11-1676E
These sell for about $90.

The 320 R filter kit is the most common Racor used in the recreational marine industry. You can find the elements almost anywhere.
