On my Revenge 20 WT I have a 2006 Merc 15 hp four stroke as my kicker for trolling. I have to manual tilt this engine up when underway with the main motor or when I trailer the boat back and forth. When it's tilted up the kickers cables get bent to about a 45-degree angle. When I put the motor back down to use it I straighten the cables by hand. Over the last two years of doing this the cables are now almost broken right at the bend. They are 18 foot cables that came with the boat. Does anyone have a fix for this? Is there any kind of rod or sheath I can get to cover the cables where they leave the motor? Thanks

Yamaha and Honda make better cables. They are more pliable and will recover from a sharper bend. Teleflex may have a comparable cable. Otherwise, look at the attachment point on the transom for a more flexible solution.

Good Luck

Something is awry. The remote throttle and shift mechanical cables should be routed away from the outboard engine in a manner that allows the engine to be tilted upward without binding the cables. The REVENGE 20 W-T typically has the full-width transom splash well, so there ought to be a relief in the splash well for the cables to enter without being severely bent. Perhaps you can post an image and illustrate the rigging you have now.

I will try and post a pic soon. I took another look at it and I have the oil tank on the port side now right where the cables stick out of the motor. I'm going to relocate it to the starboard side and free up some more room for the cables to move. Right now I have 18 foot cables in there but seeing as I have to now replace them i'm going to get some 19 footers to give me some more room. Thanks guys
