| Author | Topic: Repair of Broken Button On Trim Switch |

I need an OMC trim switch part #174285. It seems to be obsolete. [A later posting added this clarification] I would like to clarify : the switch works but the button broke off. Even a non-working switch will suffice as long as the trim button is intact. |

Any chance to repair the broken button with adhesive? |

Call Sea-Way Marine in Seattle 206-937-7373. Or check their website. They are one of the largest OMC Johnson Evinrude parts vendors in the nation. Many NOS obsolete parts. |

You could also try part #173648. That's the same switch with the red plastic button (up and down arrows) but with different connectors (flats instead of bullets). Being used with the OMC SeaDrive control, it's also NLA but you may be able to locate a used one. Here's a complete control box listed on ebay, but definately too pricey only for a plastic button: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ OMC-Sterndrive-Remote-Control-Box-Conceal-Mount-2701-A4-/ 361115623388?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item54142b1fdc&vxp=mtr Personnaly, I'd get the rocker button out of a cheap universal power window switch and try to retrofit it. |

I like the retrofit path if I wanted to restore the original equipment. |

Jim ,I do not think gluing would work , the breakage point is too small for a strong bond. Thanks all for your responses. |
