I have been searching for rub rails for my Revenge 25 Walk-Through. I found that Whaler discontinued them in 2012. Barbour plastics has not produced them for two years and does not plan on producing any more, as Boston Whaler has discontinued the item. Barbour Plastics has agreed to produce a 500-foot extrusion of [rub rails], but I need to know how many people are interested. If we have enough inquires I have a dealer who will work as a distributor for the [rub rails]. [Replacement rub rails were] originally sold by Boston Whaler as a kit at two 28-foot-lengths and with trim for about $500--enough to do a complete Revenge 25. The Boston Whaler old part number was 12‐4872‐00. As of 1996 the part number was 1053834. The Barbour Plastics part number R1099/F850. The color is Desert Tan. (I thought it was white but was told that was a common mistake.) Desert Tan or Moonstone is an off-white and was used on all the Revenge boats. The dealer confirmed that this would fit most Revenge 20/22/25 boats, but [NOT] all. There are two styles, the style depending on the top skin your boat came with. [The proposed rub rail to be manufactured may] possibly [fit] some Outrage models. It will be up to you to double check your rail against the Barbour Plastic site on their marine extrusion catalog Page 11. You will not find the profile under Barbour's Whaler section as Whaler has discontinued it. The dealer said they have had some interest in this rail, just not enough to make an order. Please post your thoughts. Thanks Jason |

Who is the dealer? What is the URL of the website and on-line catalogue you mention that must be referred to in order to determine the shape of the extrusion? What will be the approximate cost of the rub rail kit with two 28-foot pieces? What is included in the kit? The plastic track? The vinyl insert? Fasteners or other hardware? |

Barbour Plastics has an on-line PDF document of their products at http://www.rubrailsdirect.com/pdf/marine_catalog.pdf A cross section diagram for a rub rail identified as Part Number R1099 / F850 appears in the catalog. The folio is number "14". In the PDF document that folio is page 17 of the 40-page PDF. I believe the "R" indicates the part number of the rigid plastic extrusion, and the F indicates the part number of the associated flexible vinyl insert. Barbour Plastics calls this their rigid-flexible line of rub rails. Is this the extrusion you are planning to have made? |

I am in need of a both parts of the rub rail, the rigid part and black insert, for my 1988 Outrage 20 with Whaler Drive. Two 28-footers would work. I need to wrap it around the full transom and a single black length at 56' would be more then enough. Before heading down the road of special order, does anyone have experience with the rub rail offered by Specialty Marine? Is it Barbour-made? |

Re replacement rub rail for a boat with Whaler Drive: the rigid extrusion does not wrap around the hull corners at the transom, but the black vinyl insert does. Personally, I am not likely to buy new rub rail for my 1990 REVENGE 22 Whaler Drive because its rub rail is still in reasonably good condition. I would like to replace a small portion of the extrusion. If someone undertakes replacement of their rub rail, I would be grateful to get a three-foot length of used extrusion in good shape. I think using an older piece will probably give me a better match to the existing rub rail than would be obtained with a new segment. |

Yes the 1099/f850 is the one in question. The dealer is Twin city's and the cost would be subject to how much interest there is and if i do purchase one I will keep a piece for you. The kit was the rubber receiver, plastic insert and rivets. The rivets can be found locally I would have the receiver built as the insert is still available. |
