Good morning,

I have a Johnson outboard tiller steering arm that came off of a 1980's model engine. In trying to comment it to my outboard, I have come across a few questions. I am aware of the wiring harness schematics that come from the engine. However, I am unfamiliar with the tiller arm wiring. I have:

From the handle, the starter has two wires coming from it:
Red/purple goes with yellow/red
Where does solid red go?

The Choke/primer - has two wires:

Red/purple to white/purple
Where does solid red to?

Kill switch - two wires:

Two different black wires. Connect where?

I have this link that is helping me from the engine side: http://www.maxrules.com/graphics/omc/wiring/78-84_3-CYL_EL.jpg

Thank you so much!
