For those who've rebuilt their [Boston Whaler boat's] transoms: I'm in the process of installing a kicker bracket to my 1999 17' Outrage. Looking at the wood diagram, the transom looks to be only about 18-inch x 24-inch, guessing from a picture. The port and starboard sides are 3/8-inch phenolic that are used for mounting a kicker bracket and the swim platform. When the transom is replaced, does the [repairer] [replace] the entire transom or just [replace] the actual wood? I would think that [only replacing the "actual wood"] would make it much easier, less material to remove. But what do I know? I've never done it before and hope not to ever need, too. Maybe I've got too much time on my hands, but I thought I'd ask anyway. My [1999 OUTRAGE 17 boat's] transom is fine. Thanks!
