Long time lurker, first time poster.

I am the new owner of a 2008 170 Montauk with integrated live well and wanted to see how other owners have adapted the live well to a better functioning aft seat. I have seen reference to a rear seat and backrest option for the 190 and 210 live well but no mention of the 170. Would this also work with the 170? Or, is this a smaller size, in which case is there an alternative option available that someone would recommend?

Thank You.--Chris

Take a look at the Igloo "Cube" square coolers. We put two Igloo "Cube" square coolers in the stern corners of a classic Montauk, and used a Stearns cushion on top of each. They were the non-roller type and measured about 16-inch-square by 17-inch tall. No backrest, but they worked great and added extra storage.

I purchased a new 190 in 2008 and purchased the cushion and backrest for the rear live well which set me back 700 bucks, as of today I have never used it. Another one of my wife's brilliant ideas!!!!!!!!!!

Tempress Marine ( sells some very good quality folding fishing seats with good vinyl slide-on cushions. They are very comfortable. I have three on my Sport 13 and they work very well. They are easy to remove from their mounts for cleaning, security, or simply when you don't need them.

If your live well lid is similar to the one on my 190 Montauk it is probably stout enough to bolt the Tempress seat mount to it. If so, you can have your seat without sacrificing the use of your live well for live bait or storage, whichever you prefer.

Thank you, Butch, I saw where they have a quick disconnect option available as well which should work perfectly:!/Low-Back-All-Weatherâ„¢-Quick-Disconnect-Boat-Seat-&-Cushion-Combo-White/p/1527458/category=442179

My pleasure. I hope you're pleased with the seat.
