Am I missing something? Is there a way to fix?
I sprayed some Kroil on the cog area, just in case it is just a frozen part. The previous owner kept the boat on dock and this trailer did not see much action, other than rust on bunk brackets.

Solved: Kroil did the job of freeing whatever was frozen. I may still replace the [winch] down the road. Manual winch brands and models suggestions welcome.

For a smaller boat the winch probably can be a single-speed winch. I have used DUTTON-LAINSON winches. See the six pages of various models, beginning at

Best winches I have found are Shellby, Made in the USA and parts are easy to get (I think they are in the midwast) Strong and they make different sizes (up to 4000lbs I think). Punch it in on the computer, do not have their number right off hand....good luck
