I had the pleasure of skiing off a Boston Whaler [170] Super Sport with a wakeboard tower. Is there any way a 190 Montauk could be equipped with one? Not the ski pylon but the overhead, over-the-console wakeboard-fishing tower. Thanks for your opinions. |

Why not? A custom fabricator of T-Tops or towers would probably welcome your business. Some photographs of the type of tower you want would be useful for starting the discussion. You would have to provide the locations of the mounting points the fabricator would have to use for the tower. I believe the ones I've seen, at a distance, were gunwale mounted. I think it would be advantageous to speak with Boston Whaler before getting too far into the project. Determine if the gunwales of the Montauk are structurally suited to the loading imposed on a wakeboard tower and, if not suited, any viable alternatives. Butch |

You should check on the Boston Whaler website to learn what options are available for the 190 MONTAUK. On http://www.bostonwhaler.com/Page.aspx/pageId/29592/pmid/335543/ 190-Montauk.aspx they list as an optional accessory for the 190 MONTAUK a device they call the "Tow arch." That is also what Boston Whaler calls the accessory for the 170 SUPER SPORT. That is what you probably saw. |

Thanks for the replies. They do list the "tow arch" for the Montauk however they do not offer a picture. I checked on the Super Sport option list and there is a picture of the "tow arch". I cannot seem to find a picture of the "tow arch" on the Montauk. I am curious as to how it connects to the boat with the side ralis of the Montauk. Steve |

I didn't see any pictures of the arch on the 190 Montauk page, but the options page for the 170 Supersport model shows a picture of a "tow arch sun-top with boot" which has a view of the arch itself. It's hard to tell from the angle of the shot, but that tow arch may not give full interior headroom on your Montauk. Also, to my eye, the curved tubes of the tow arch complement the curved gunwale line of the Supersport, but would not look right on the boxier style of the Montauk. I would be inclined to use the stock mounting points, and have a custom arch designed and built to fit on them. Tim |
