I am helping a friend diagnose a problem with his [2004 BRP 225 DFI] engine. It is mounted to a 1997 Conquest21. The check engine light and horn come on 30-seconds after the ignition in engaged. The horn shuts off after a 30-seconds, but the lamp remains lit. The horn comes back to haunt me every three to four minutes, then shuts off. There is no SLOW mode problems. It happens whether the ignition is on and the engine is in neutral and not started, when the throttle is advanced and the engine is not started, the engine is started and is idling, or the engine is in gear at low to advanced RPM. I disconnected the throttle cable and manually advanced the throttle in order to get the fault codes to no avail. I also switched batteries from 1 to 2 and both appear to be sufficient to operate the engine, and the same problem persists. The engine was serviced by a reputable whaler dealer 50-hours ago. Thoughts, feelings, reflections? My Evinride dealer is three weeks out for an appointment and it's beautiful on the bay right now. This is essentially a shameless plea to Seahorse guised as a general question.
