I'm looking to purchase #10 x 1–1/2-inch oval head Phillips stainless wood screws. I have tried my usual sources (Hamilton, Jamestown, West Marine, McMaster) without success. Any leads would be appreciated. |

Stainless sheet metal screws are readily available just about any decent hardware store and should work fine instead of wood screws. |

Excellent fastener house on EBAY. Very good pricing and free shipping. Albanycountyfasteners. Current EBAY item number for your # 10 X 1 1/2 oval head SS is: 170990225325. |

Thanks for all the tips. Unfortunately, I'm no closer to finding exactly what I need. Is it possible that stainless #10 x 1-1/2" wood screws with oval phillips heads are no longer made? |

They exist, in fact I have a small jar of #10's at home; all bought from: All SS Oval Phillips, wood screws

I believe sail16 is looking for actual wood screws and NOT self-tapping or sheet metal screws. Wood screws are generally not threaded all the way to the head, hence my first comment that sheet metal screws (aka self-tapping screws) will work just fine as a replacement. |

The screws described above are nothing more than sheet metal screws. If you are using a screw to screw something to a fiberglass hull, that is what you use. Wood screws are not used in fiberglass work. rich |

If the screw passes through the fiberglass skin into wood backing, use wood screws. Either use a tapered drill bit or use a larger bit through the skin and smaller in the backing. This will keep the fiberglass from cracking. Countersink the skin so all of the sealant does not get squeezed out. |

Thanks for all the leads. From what I have seen, I can get most any combination of three of my four criteria, but not all four: 1 stainless Clearly all four criteria could be met in the past as I have an old fastener of that type in my hand, but none of us seem successful in finding a current fastener that fits those criteria. |

I tried several searches for your target fasteners. I could never get the OVAL HEAD criterion. If you could accept FLAT HEAD there are many sources. |
