The tilt motor on our Yamaha T50 is almost burned out after having run continuously for over an hour. It looks like I can replace it myself. Does anyone have any experience with non-OEM motors? The cost difference is rather significant. Thank you.

I was in a Yamaha dealer yesterday. The guy next in line purchased a new trim motor and some bolts and gasket to do the change. His bill was around $580.00. I think if you can fine a small electric starter motor shop. They maybe able to rebuild yours depending on the condition, Or they can steer you to an after-market one

I would definitely give a local automotive electrical or electric motor rebuild firm an opportunity to look at your old trim motor.--Butch

I've bought both an aftermarket trim pump motor and a starter for a 225 E-TEC. Figure around $100 on eBay.

Thank you. This is our sailing club's main rescue boat. I didn't want to take it out of service for more than a day or two. I'll order a motor and then pull the boat.

I just bought a DB Electric tilt motor on Amazon for $75. Fit was great except new O-ring was too thin; I used the old O-ring. The [non-OEM trim motor] as been working great, but I have only been out a few times with it.
