Folks: I have two Boston Whaler boats. One is a 1999 CONQUEST 23 with twin Mercury OptiMax 135-HP engines. The engines have run great for years. With that said, my son and friends were out last Sunday for the entire day to Annapolis and back. He states, as de-throttled done to enter the 5-MPH area, it appeared the starboard engine cut off, which was noticed at first. He attempted to restart the engine, which turned over fine but would not start. He limped home on one and notified me. I went down the following day and checked the fuel bulb [and they appear] okay. By the way, no alarms on Smartcraft gauges. I noticed when I turn on the port or starboard key, I get the beep as required, but do not hear the humming noise from starboard motor, which I'm led to believe is the fuel pump. Yes, I do hear it on the port motor. I took a jump box and went directly to what I believe is the fuel pump (red-back) wire harness connector in the front of the motor. The pump kicked on! I checked the three or four on the starboard side of the motor and all fine.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ? A friend and mechanic said to check the fuel filter on the motor with the wire attached below, stating if it's contaminated with debris or water the motor will shut down and not start. One fuel tank, two motors, with fresh gas--obviously.
