Hello Whaler Fanatics,
Twisted bunch some may say but until you have one of your own, your just another boater! I have just joined the ranks with a 1986 Outrage 18 ft. and want to add a backrest to my leaning post. I saw one on a 22ft. new Dauntless and have beeen looking for the right fit for mine. The problem lies in the distance between the rod holders where the backrest posts fit. I can only find one that has posts with 24" centers. Where can I find a good selection to choose from?

Welcome aboard, Nitro!!

You didn't say whether your leaning post is OEM or not, but one idea I'll throw out is to contact Birdsall Marine in W. Palm Beach, FL; 1-800-929-1772 (that's their catalog order number - their tech number isn't 1-800, but I think you will still be able to get through that way). I believe they will custom fabricate backrests, and I know they are familiar with and have access to Whaler upholstery. I have a Birdsall leaning post that I ordered from them in my Outrage 22, and the backrest posts are on swivel brackets on the back side of the backrest, so I can swing the posts up parallel behind the backrest for easier storage. Good stuff. They have a website you can find with a search foe "birdsall marine"

Good luck-

kingfish
