I recently bought a 17' Montauk 1982 w/ a 70 Hp Evinrude. It did not come with an extra prop. I wood like to remove the old one and use it as a spare. What pitch seems to be the best for this combo?
I could not find the pitch stamped on the current prop.

My 70hp is a '91 Evinrude. I think it's basically the same product they've made since Ole was in Junior High.
I'm running a 17" at 5600rpm...makes no difference if it's stainless or aluminum...smack dab in the middle of the recommended operating range. That's with a light load. So that means there's probably room to go to a 15" too.
