posted 06-11-2001 08:25 AM ET (US)      I have a '96 Dauntless 20 (now called Ventura)with an Evinrude Oceanpro 175 and I'm wondering what kind of performance others with a similar setup are getting. I measured the speed with a GPS this weekend and at 5000 RPM I get about 40 MPH (statute miles). I'm totally happy with the performance but would like to know if its performing as it should. If anyone has a similar setup I'ld be curious to know what kind of performance you get. Anybody have any advise on how to goose the performance a bit? BTW, it was a beautiful weekend on the water on Cape Cod. No fish but plenty of sunshine and the temp was perfect. The crowds haven't yet arrived for the summer so there's plenty of room at those primo beach and fishing spots. There were probably more Whalers than any other boat out on the water this weekend.
