I was thinking about purchasing Merc 4-5hp kicker for my Newtauk. I think I'm going to go with a 4 stroke but haven't totally eliminated the 2 strokes yet. I know there was talk about a 3.3 merc being used a kicker before and people seemed to have good results with it, but does anyone have this setup with the 4 stroke?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

Had a 3.5 hp Nissan on my Montauk. Worked great. I know some people love them, but I would not want a four stroke for a kicker on a boat that size....too much weight. I liked the 3.5 Nissan. Very light and pushed the boat just fine.

I have a 4hp yammy 4 stroke on my 93 Montauk. It has the 15 in shaft and mounted directly to the transom ,port side.It is a great little motor, however I would go with the 20 in shaft next time I leave the main motor down[70hp 4s evinrude-suzuki] and steer from the helm
