I think you will gain a 1 mph or so but I would not expect anything more than a 1mph in either direction. You will have great fuel economy and no problems!

I believe forum member "skred" has a recently installed 4s 50 hp Mercury on a 15.

Look him up in the Trips and Rend Forum under Door Co. or the "Easy Off" thread in Repairs/Maint. Forum. He will provide real numbers I expect.

Take a look at the 60 efi 4 stroke also. Same weight and ten more ponies that I am sure will come in handy. I would guess that it would be well worth the extra few hundred bucks.

jonha,

Having recently powered my 15 with an F60 Yamaha, I can tell you that you will be delighted! I'd suggest your considering the 60HP model, as it weighs the same as the 50HP model does. A few extra ponies never hurt!

The engine's break-in isn't finished yet, so I don't have performance figures available. Also, my brother and I are going to try out the boat tomorrow with the girls aboard, so we'll have an idea of how additional passengers affect the boat's feel.
