Some of the more experienced performance experts on this site should get together and come up with a performance troubleshooting questionnaire so we get all the information necessary to make a best guess as to what is wrong. For instance, Jim could place this linked questionnaire on the perfomance page and the blanks could be filled out by the person with the problem, then the questionnaire could be posted. There could even be a disclaimer stating that any missing information might render the solutions irrelevant.
1. Make of boat?
2. Model of boat?
3. Overall length of boat?
4. Load carried over the standard boat and motor weight?
5. Motor Brand?
6. Motor type? Outboard, 2 or 4 stroke, sterndrive, inboard, bracket.
7. Motor size in HP?
8. Motor date of manufacturer?
9. Prop size if known?
10. Motor height as mounted on transom?
11. Maintenance history, tuneups, water pump impeller replacement, owner fiddlings, etc.
12. ???
I see a lot of wasted time and money in many of these topics and threads because the person who has the problem is not revealing everything we need to know to diagnose the problem.
