I have a 1992 2 stroke Yamaha for my 15 Whaler SS. Over the winter I restored the boat and have just run the engine after having it gone through by a Yamaha dealer. The mechanic said that everything looked great but while running the boat at low rpms, (600-1400rpm) there is an excessive amount of vibration. The mechanic said that this is normal for loop charged engines. At rpms above 1400 the engine smooths out and runs well. Does anyone know if this is really normal?

It sounds normal. My 2003 Yamaha 70 2-stroke does the same thing. It also sounds horrible around 4300-4400 RPM. |

Thanks for the reply. One thing that I forgot to mention is that the mechanic showed me that if I raised the trim on the motor to 3 while idleing at about 900rpm the vibration could be somewhat minimized. Any speed above or below that and the motor really shakes. |
