larpad	posted 07-14-2004 09:23 PM ET (US)         I have a 1971 13 sport with a 25hp eninrude. The motor blew up and I have had a heck of a time finding a good used short shaft motor. I gave up looking and settled on a 35HP long shaft. I am having a mechanic mount CMC 5" vertical extensions to raise the transom to 20" I put a center console on this boat and was not too impressed with the 25HP. Has anyone done something like this to their 13 and what kind of performance can I expect out of this 35hp? Thanks Larry
Bigshot	posted 07-15-2004 04:18 PM ET (US)             Not too much more than the 25hp but count on about 30-32mph vs about 28 or so with the 25. Where it will make a big difference is when you carry 3 people or so. I ran a 10x13" prop on my 35 Johnson(1982).

ryanwhaler	posted 07-18-2004 08:30 PM ET (US)             Forum member tgresla has a '73 13' with a big Newport console and two big chairs, powered my a 35hp Evenrude. The day I was boating along side him he got 31mph on his GPS.
